The Garryowen Community Committee was set up in July 2008, with the help of the PAUL Partnership in Limerick .The Committee is made up of volunteers living and working in the Garryowen area. The committee meet once a month to discuss issues facing the community and try to work together in finding solutions, also the meetings allow groups to find out about what’ s going on in the other clubs so there is no duplication of services .
The role of the Committee is to represent the Community and also encourage and also encourage and support local people to in actively participating in the local Community .The Committee aims to source and secure funding for a community centre in the future, and also create new services and facilities in the Garryowen area. The Garryowen Committee have recently employed a Part Time Community Development worker who is based in John Street .
